Ouija Cheese Platter
On National Cheese Lover’s Day, enjoying a delightful platter with a variety of creamy morsels seems only fitting with my perfectly spooky Glass Ouija Cheese Board Set. Paired with Spicy Pepper Jam from the South Central Farmers Cooperative and homemade Sweet and Savory Cornmeal Cookies (recipe below), I’d be hard pressed to top some of my Whole Food’s favorites like Woolwich Dairy Triple Crème Goat Brie, Fromager D’Affinois Guilloteau, and Somerdale Wensleydale with Cranberry!
Sweet & Savory Cornmeal Cookie:
1 c. softened butter
1 c. white sugar
2 egg yolks
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal flour (not grits)
Place butter and sugar in mixing bowl and whip until well blended; add in egg yolks, beating after each one to incorporate. Whisk flours together to blend and add to ingredients in bowl and beat. Shape dough into walnut sized balls and place on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Taking a glass dipped in sparkling sugar, gently push down on each ball to form evenly flattened cookies, about 1/4 inch thick. Bake until golden brown and crispy - about 12 minutes. Makes approximately 36 cookies.
