Midori Green Ghoul Town Square Cocktail

After a long and busy week leading into the height of the holiday season, I figured I could use a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed Friday evening cocktail (or two)! I used this Midori based recipe to create a mixed drink reminiscent of the green liquid in the Town Square fountain from which Jack Skellington emerges in the film, which seemed both visually festive and seasonally appropriate. Simply mix one part Midori Melon Liqueur, half a part Chartreuse (I used Pernod!), and half a part ginger liqueur in a shaker with ice, shake, and strain over an ice-filled glass. I left out the recipe's suggestion of lining the inside of the glass with strands of black licorice, but did top the glass off with ginger ale -- and added a maraschino cherry of my own for extra Christmas-hued cheer!
