Lukshon
Given my long-standing adoration for his Father's Office menu, I had been looking forward to trying Sang Yoon's South-East Asian restaurant, Lukshon, for ages, and recently had the opportunity to pop in for an early-evening dinner. Opened in 2011 and located down the block from Father's Office 2.0 in the Helms Bakery District, the restaurant -- whose name is a play on "lokshen," the Yiddish word for noodles -- celebrates family style dishes that embrace South-East Asian street food flavors while interpreting them into modern, elevated small (and large) plates. Originally conceived as a noodle bar, the menu features a lovely range from Hawaiian Butterfish sashimi, to deep fried Crab Fritters with Singapore style chili jam, to Yoon's famous spicy Dandan Noodles, which the wait staff encourages diners to enjoy at the end of the savory portion of a meal, thus avoiding obliterating one's taste buds and marring the subtle beauty of any remaining courses! Paired with a perfectly tropical Singapore Sling cocktail, Lukshon's menu and outdoor patio make it easy to want to establish this restaurant as a regular haunt!
Be sure to make a reservation before heading over!
