Maitland Strawberry Cupcakes

Another one of my cherished spooky couples is Barbara and Adam Maitland from Beetlejuice. Their attempt to scare the Deetz family out of their home by physically transforming their bodies into twisted versions of themselves remains one of my favorite moments in all of Tim Burton's films, and it is with that eyeballs-on-fingertips scene in mind that I crafted these Valentine's Day-themed Strawberry Cupcakes. Armed with this cake recipe from Los Angeles baking staple Sprinkles Cupcakes, I opted for a homemade cream cheese frosting, part of which I dyed black and dually piped onto the cupcakes for that classically striped "Beetlejuice" appearance.
