Tinga (because it's worth a 2nd post!)

I have long sung the praises of Tinga on La Brea, and will continue to do so until kingdom come. My favorite local Mexican spot in the city, Jerry Baker's food is so richly flavorful and intelligently constructed that though I love trying out other Mexican restaurants, I always wind up comparing them to this home away from home (so much so, they even know my favorite table!). My go-to dish is the restaurant's orange and achiote marinated Cochinita Tacos with spicy habanero salsa (though I love the same dish in nacho-form when I'm feeling extra gluttonous), but love going with friends and family so I can also tuck into the incredible Mexican Coca Cola-braised Carnitas, and maybe even a sweet and crispy bite of churro with homemade caramel. A sunny spring day with a table full of Tinga and a cold draft glass of Old Chub in hand is my absolute idea of perfection!
