Poison Apple Cider

As I dream of cooler, autumnal days to come, I can practically taste the apple cider I'll be making throughout the fall. This "Poison Apple Cider" from Better Homes and Gardens special "Halloween tricks & treats" magazine utilizes hard cider and applejack, and the sweetly warm mixture of maple syrup, lemon juice, and cinnamon gives it an irresistible flavor with just the right boozy kick.

Poison Apple Potion

Ice Cubes
2 Tbsp applejack
1 Tbsp maple syrup
1 Tbsp lemon juice
Pinch ground cinnamon
1/2 cup chilled hard cider
Long cinnamon stick

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add applejack, maple syrup, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Cover and shake about 10 seconds or until cold.

Fill a tall glass with ice cubes, strain applejack mixture into glass. Pour the hard cider on top, garnish with a long cinnamon stick.
