Mansinthe
I am admittedly -- albeit, to some, unexpectedly -- a huge Marilyn Manson fan. And as a huge absinthe enthusiast as well, it's only inevitable that I would follow the green fairy of his devising. Mansinthe is a glassy green, musky, wormwood and anise-driven treat, developed by Mr. Manson in conjunction with Swiss absinthe distiller Oliver Matter. A true absinthe connoisseur himself, it's no surprise that Manson's herbaceous 133.2 proof product is a gold medal winner. It won't make you hallucinate (it never has - Toulouse-Lautrecian absinthe delirium was apparently more likely to be the result of acute alcoholism withdrawal), but pour ice cold water over a sugar cube (placed upon a proper absinthe spoon, of course!) and enjoy! Or if you're in an ultra ex-pat kind of mood, combine with champagne for Ernest Hemmingway's infamous "Death in the Afternoon" cocktail.
