Pumpkin Cupcakes with Peanuts and Candy Corn

Many years ago, my mother shared her father's favorite Halloween pairing of candy corn with peanuts with me, and I find it nearly impossible to enjoy the seasonal candy without the nutty, salty balance of those accompanying legumes. Since I find it hard to resist baking any and everything pumpkin this time of year, this salty-sweet garnish seemed like the perfect decoration to top freshly baked pumpkin cupcakes, with wonderfully delicious results!
