Oogie Boogie Brown Sugar Cookies
Certain Christmas cookie recipes have become family traditions in my house, and these Brown Sugar Wafer Cut-Outs taste just like the holidays to me. Though the original recipe calls for half a teaspoon of cinnamon, it can certainly be altered based on preference – I wanted to add a bit more “sass” to this Oogie Boogie-inspired batch, and included two teaspoons of cinnamon, one teaspoon of nutmeg, and a dash of ground cloves.
Brown Sugar Wafer Cut-Outs
1⅓ c packed light brown sugar
1 c softened butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 c flour
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp cinnamon
Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl. Use wire whisk to blend, then add to sugar mixture; do not over beat. Chill before rolling out as thin as possible. Bake cut-outs in preheated 375 degree oven 5-7 minutes until set and browned.
