Dead Duck Sugar Cookies
One of my favorite cookie recipes is this simple sugar cookie dough, which I love using to make holiday rollouts. This year, I used a duck-shaped cookie cutter to bring the Dead Duck toy from The Nightmare Before Christmas to life. With the help of a thin coat of frosting (powdered sugar and just enough half and half to make a paste) and these gourmet pens filled with food dye, these cookies are devilishly delicious!
Sugar Cookie Rollouts
1 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Beat butter on medium speed in electric mixer for 30 seconds; add sugar and beat until fluffy; add egg and beat until well combined. On low speed gradually beat in flour just until mixed through. Chill dough in refrigerator at least two hours. Roll between parchment paper to 1/8" thickness and cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 on cookie sheets for about 10 minutes until lightly browned around edges.
