Ledlow (dinner)
Having just recently enjoyed a delicious brunch downtown at Ledlow, I was excited to have an excuse to head back for a pre-Ahmanson Theatre meal this past Saturday before my boyfriend and I saw Matilda the Musical (an adorable and hilarious adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic story with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, whom I adore and for whose solo act I always snag tickets when he performs in LA!). Chef Josef Centeno’s exceptional take on classic American fare made for a delectably gluttonous meal – my boyfriend savored the special of the evening, which was an extremely rich and hearty Beef Stroganoff with house-made egg noodles, braised short rib, wild mushrooms, and crème fraîche; while I enjoyed the Cornmeal Crusted Catfish with grilled spicy corn and bacon tartar sauce. However, to balance our heavy mains, we opted for lighter seasonal starters – I plan on recreating my take on both the Snap Peas & Peaches with honey, burrata, and toasted pumpkin seeds; and the Confit Duck & Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad with cherries, tomatoes, croutons, and blue cheese all summer long!
