Edward Scissorhands Heart-Shaped Windowpane Cookies
Using the same recipe as I did for my Corpse Bride Butterflies, I decided to bake a second batch of cookies in an alternate windowpane-style in honor of The Inventor, played by the inherently spooky and iconic Vincent Price in Edward Scissorhands. Made by using both a large heart-shaped cookie cutter as well as a smaller one to achieve the smaller center cut-out, these pretty little sweets are made by placing the large cut-out dough hearts on a baking sheet and by then using the smaller heart to cut out the middle of each. Once the small dough heart has been lifted out, each center cut-out is filled with a teaspoon of crushed hard candy and baked until the cookies are lightly brown on the edges and the crushed candy melted into a "pane" -- I baked the mini hearts as well for the tiniest of sugar cookies! This elegant and otherwise undecorated sugar cookie reminds me of the cookies baked by The Inventor, which inspire him to build Edward, his creation with a heart of gold.
