Catch LA
I drive past the foliage-covered, rooftop restaurant Catch LA every day on my commute, and had been dying to try out the seafood-centric West Hollywood hotspot for months (so I was delighted when I had the opportunity to pop in for brunch!). With additional locations in New York, Dubai, and Playa del Carmen, the restaurant's fairytale-like ambiance is immediately evident as soon as the elevator doors spring open, revealing a trellised garden walkway that looks out on the Hollywood skyline. With a menu that relies on local and sustainable ingredients with an emphasis on sushi and Asian flavors, I found myself equally a fan of the restaurant's signature cold dishes -- like salmon belly carpaccio -- as their hot dishes, like black cod lettuce "wraps with bourbon-miso, or crispy shrimp with spicy mayo. I can only imagine how stunning the view at CATCH must be as the sun sets on a warm spring night, and I can't wait to return to enjoy an evening meal in the coming weeks.
