Trois Familia
On paper, few restaurants on earth could embody the same perfect amalgam of my personal foodie tastes as Trois Familia – French-Mexican fusion from the deliciously brilliant minds of chefs Ludo Lefebvre, Jon Shook, and Vinny Dotolo. A riff on tartare features colorful diced red beets mixed with briny cornichons and bright lime juice, topped with a swirl of avocado crema, all seated atop a crunchy tostada. Roasted carrots are rolled in flour tortillas for an enchilada dish, nestled in a rich mole sauce, creme fraiche and cilantro leaves. French toast is infused with the hallmark flavor of sugary fried churros, dusted with Mexican chocolate with a scoop of Salt & Straw’s vanilla ice cream. Open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, Trois Mec is understandably equally packed each and every day, with especially lengthy waits for weekend brunch (though I love sneaking in early on a weekday to catch the restaurant during a rare quiet moment!).
